Product Description

Mechanism of medicine action:

The effects of testosterone in humans and other vertebrates occur by way of two main mechanisms: by activation of the androgen receptor (directly or as DHT), and by conversion to estradiol and activation of certain estrogen receptors. Free testosterone (T) is transported into the cytoplasm of target tissue cells, where it can bind to the androgen receptor, or can be reduced to 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by the cytoplasmic enzyme 5alpha-reductase. The areas of binding are called hormone response elements (HREs), and influence transcriptional activity of certain genes, producing the androgen effects.

Indications:

Testosterone Propionate is used in males that present conditions derived from a deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone. These conditions are 1) primary hypogonadism, defined as the testicular failure due to cryptorchidism, bilateral torsion, orchitis, vanishing testis syndrome or orchidectomy; and 2) hypogonadotropic hypogonadism characterized by idiopathic gonadotropin, LHRH deficiency or pituitary-hypothalamic injury from tumors, trauma or radiation.

Contraindications:

The use of Testosterone Propionate is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to testosterone or its components, cases of prostate or breast cancer in males, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women, due to risks posed to fetal or infant health.

Precautions:

When using Testosterone Propionate, several precautions to ensure safety. Individuals with cardiovascular issues, liver or kidney disease, and a history of hormone-sensitive cancers (like prostate or breast cancer) should exercise caution, as testosterone may exacerbate these conditions. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication due to risks of virilization in infants. Patients with psychiatric disorders and those managing diabetes should also be monitored closely, as testosterone can influence mood and insulin sensitivity. Injection techniques must be performed correctly to reduce the risk of infection, and regular follow-up appointments are essential to monitor hormone levels and overall health. Finally, athletes should be aware of the substance’s banned status in sports. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting treatment.

Drug interactions:

Testosterone Propionate may interact with certain medications, including anticoagulants, corticosteroids, and antidiabetic agents, which could lead to altered drug effects or increased risks of adverse reactions.

Dosage:

For testosterone replacement therapy in males with hypogonadism, the suggested dosage ranges from 25 to 50mg administered intramuscularly every 2 to 3 days. This frequent dosing schedule is necessary due to the shorter half-life of testosterone propionate compared to other testosterone esters. In some cases, dosages may be adjusted based on serum testosterone levels and clinical response. It is crucial to follow the prescribed dosage regimen closely and not to alter the dose without consulting a healthcare provider.

Storage:

Store in a dark, dry place, at room temperature. Do not refrigerate. Keep out of reach of children.
